Visa Requirement for US Passport Holders – Qatar (State of Qatar)

A valid passport is required for US citizens traveling to Qatar. They must also have a visa to enter the country. US nationals can purchase a visa upon arrival at Doha International Airport. Travelers who will be entering on a different port must secure a visa prior to arrival in the country.

A Tourist Visa On-Arrival is valid for one month and cannot be extended. It can also be obtained online instantly. Those who wish to stay longer must secure a visa before traveling.

A Business Visa On-Arrival is valid for 72 hours and can be extended for another 72 hours. Documents proving the purpose of the trip must also be presented upon arrival.

For those conducting business or short-term contractual work must apply for a Business Visa before arriving in Qatar. This visa is valid for 3 months.

Requirements for Visa Application

Tourist

  • US passport with at least 6 months remaining validity beyond the intended trip (please include 2 photocopies of the 1st couple of pages)
  • 1 visa application form, completely filled out and signed
  • 2 passport size photos, recent
  • Bank Statement for the last 3 months
  • Invitation letter stating the reason for the entry visa request

Business

  • US passport with at least 6 months remaining validity beyond the intended trip (please include 2 photocopies of the 1st couple of pages)
  • 1 visa application form, completely filled out and signed
  • 2 passport size photos, recent
  • Bank Statement for the last 3 months
  • Company letter stating the purpose of the trip

Visa Fess:

Tourist
Single Entry, Valid for 1 month:      US $28
Multiple Entry, Valid for 1 to 10 years: US $131

Business
Single Entry, Valid for 1 month: US $56
Multiple Entry, Valid for 1 to 10 years: US $131

Those who overstay their visas will be charged US $55 per day. Maximum amount to be paid for overstaying is US $3,300.
