Canadian passport holders do not require visas to visit Lithuania. Their Canadian passports must be valid for at least three months beyond the date of expected exit from the country.
Health insurance is obligatory for all non-EU citizens. Visitors unable to show sufficient proof of medical insurance must obtain short-term insurance at the border.
Visitors to the Curonian Spit, an extended sand dune that divides the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea, are advised that the spit is divided between Lithuania and the Russian Federation and that there is a border crossing at Nida. Foreigners wishing to visit Russia are required to obtain a visa.
Canadian passport holders travelling to the Schengen area do not need visas for short-term visits of up to 90 days within a six-month period. The 90 days are cumulative and valid to travel within all countries of the Schengen Area; although some countries require you to register with local authorities within three working days upon your arrival.
If Canadian passport holders overstay the permitted 90 days in the Schengen Area, they may be fined or even deported. For visits for longer than 90 days, Canadian passport holders must get hold of a long-stay national visa.
