A valid Canadian passport is necessary for Canadians intending to visit Malta. The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the date of the expected exit from this country.
Proof of yellow fever immunization is required for those arriving from infected areas.
Canadian passport holders traveling to the Schengen Area do not need visas for short-term visits (up to 90 days within a six-month period). The 90 days are cumulative and pertain to travel within all countries of the Schengen Area. It is essential to get your passport stamped when entering the Schengen Area where in the absence of which could create difficulties during subsequent encounters with local police or other authorities throughout the Schengen Area.
If Canadian passport holders overstay the permitted 90 days in the Schengen Area, they may be fined or deported. For visits for longer than 90 days, Canadians must obtain a long-stay national visa.
