A visa is required for Canadian citizens to travel to Nepal. Visas may be obtained at the Nepalese Embassy in Canada; however, a visa may also be purchased at Tribhuvan International Airport and at designated land border points of entry.
Foreigners may only stay in Nepal for a total of 150 cumulative days in the course of a visa year. Canadian travelers who wish to stay longer than their approved visa duration will need to apply for an extension at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu well before their visa’s expiration date.
Canadians traveling to Tibet from Nepal are strongly advised to first contact the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kathmandu to obtain the most current regulations for entry into Tibet.
