Visa Requirements for Canada Passport Holders – Peru (Republic of Peru)

Canadians are not required to obtain a tourist visa to visit Peru. A Canadian passport which is valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of expected departure, as well as return or onward airline tickets will have to be presented. Entry stamps will be provided in their passports upon arrival at a Peruvian port of entry, permitting the bearer to stay for up to 180 days upon the discretion of Immigration Officers. An Andean Immigration Card is also issued to all visitors upon arrival, which will in turn need to be presented by the traveler prior to departure. Failure to hand in this document may result in delays.

Canadian citizens who intend to travel to Peru on business are required to obtain a visa, and before being approved for departure from the country must submit certification (Declaración Jurada) from the Peruvian Ministry of the Economy that all taxes on income they earned during their stay in Peru have been paid. This certification is still required even if no money was earned and, consequently no taxes were paid, and must then be taken to the central Peruvian immigration office in Lima.

A departure tax of approximately US$30.25 must be paid by all travelers who are departing to any international destination. As well, those traveling domestically will need to pay a national tax of approximately US$6.05.
