Entry visas are not required of Canadian citizens when traveling to Guatemala, provided that it is for tourist purposes and the visitor would stay for no longer than 90 days. Canadians have to ensure that their passports are valid for at least 6 months and carry this with them at all times for the duration of the trip.
Those arriving to Guatemala by land or sea should actively seek out an immigration official to have their passports stamped on entry. Failure to do so may result in delays and incur fines upon departure.
Furthermore, if one is arriving from an area infected with yellow fever, proof of vaccination for it will have to be presented.
An airport departure tax of US$30 is usually included in the airplane ticket fare. Additionally, a security tax of US$3 will have to be paid at the airport.
Individuals who intend to conduct business or stay in Guatemala for more than 90 days have to obtain the appropriate visas for their purpose.
