A valid Canadian passport is required for all Canadians who intend to travel to Haiti. Although Canadians can get a Canadian passport at the Embassy of Canada in Port-Au-Prince, the processing time can take as much as 15 days that can be much longer than the intended stay. The traveler will also not be allowed to depart Haiti without a proper passport or travel document. It is advisable that Canadian travelers secure a valid passport before leaving for Haiti.
A Canadian visitor is permitted to stay in Haiti without a visa for up to 90 days, either for tourism or business purposes. If the visitor intends to stay for more than 90 days, an extension must be applied for at the Haitian Immigration Service before the 90-day limit.
The Haitian Embassy does not issue business visas. For Canadians whose purpose for traveling is Business in nature, it is imperative to get in touch with the trade section of Embassy of Canada in Port-Au-Prince: firstname.lastname@example.org.
For the purposes of study, a student’s visa must be secured prior to departure. Information on the procedure and requirements for student’s visa may be obtained at the nearest Haitian Embassy or Diplomatic Mission in Canada.
For those who are required to get a visa to enter Haiti, this can be obtained upon arrival at the international airport in Haiti. The requirements are:
- Valid passport
- 1- completely filled out and signed application form
- 2- passport size pictures
- Fee of US$ 25 to be paid in cash
