In the Schengen Area in which Latvia is included, Canadian citizens do not need visas for visits lasting a maximum of 90 days within a 6-month period. Canadian travelers must obtain a temporary residence permit for stays longer than 90 days. It is also important to note that the 90 days are cumulative and apply to travel to all countries of the Schengen Area.
Canadians must present a passport which is valid for at least 3 months beyond the expected duration of the trip, proof of valid health insurance that covers medical costs that may be incurred during the stay in Latvia. The health insurance must include coverage for repatriation costs.
