Visa Requirements for US Passport Holders – Equatorial Guinea (Republic of Equatorial Guinea)

US passport holders may enter the Equatorial Guinea without a visa. However, travelers must have, along with their passport, evidence of a yellow fever vaccination to enter Equatorial Guinea.  Visas are not required for U.S. citizens unless the traveler will be there for an extended stay or is intending to work there.  U.S. citizens entering without a visa should register with the local police station if they are intending to stay longer than 90 days.  Non-US passport holders must acquire a visa prior to arriving in country. Travelers should note that it is extremely difficult to obtain a visa upon entry into Equatorial Guinea.

Although U.S. citizens are not required to obtain a visa to enter, the Embassy requires that the following documents be submitted to their office prior to the travel:

For Tourist Visa

  • Photocopy of your valid U.S. passport, showing name, birth date, passport number, and expiration date.
  • 2 fully completed and signed Application Forms
  • 2 passport-size photographs required
  • Copy of recent bank statement showing at least US $2000 on deposit

For Business Visa

  • Photocopy of your valid U.S. passport, showing name, birth date, passport number, and expiration date.
  • 2 fully completed and signed Application Forms
  • 2 passport-size photographs required
  • A business letter from employer stating the purpose of the trip, travel dates, reference to be visited, and guaranteeing financial support and return transportation for the applicant.
  • Also include a financial statement from the company financing, the travel confirming a minimum amount of US $2000 that would cover all expenses while in Equatorial Guinea.

For Official/Diplomatic Travel

  • Photocopy of your valid U.S. passport, showing name, birth date, passport number, and expiration date.
  • 2 fully completed and signed Application Forms
  • 2 passport-size photographs required
  • Copy of recent bank statement showing at least US $2000 on deposit
  • Confirmation letter from sending department or agency, stating the purpose of the trip, and dates of the intended visit.
