Visa Requirements for South Africa Passport Holders – Afghanistan (Islamic Republic of Afghanistan)

South African citizens are required to secure a visa prior to traveling to the ­Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. A passport with at least six months’ validity is also required.

General Requirements:

  1. Filled and properly signed Visa Application form.
  2. Two recent passport size photos.
  3. Passport with at least six months validity remaining.

General Requirements – Tourist Visa:

Visiting tourists must state in details the nature of their tour and the places they intend to visit. Those visiting family or friends must furnish a letter of introduction from whom they intend to visit in Afghanistan.

General Requirements – Employment Visa:

For those whose purpose of visit is employment, provide a letter of introduction from the employing agency and /or the recipient organization within Afghanistan.

Please note: A Visa cannot be issued unless MFA sends an authorization of issuance.
