A visa is required for all British citizens traveling to Ghana. Here is a list of requirements which you would need in order to be able to apply for a visa, whether personally or via mail.
Visa application forms should be filled out in duplicate. Two passport-sized photographs should be pasted on the designated place on the form. Proof of financial means should also be enclosed, along with a return ticket. If traveling on business, a letter from the firm that you are attending a conference on behalf of, is necessary. The proposed date of travel, along with the confirmation of accommodation in Ghana is also needed. If traveling with a minor, a letter of consent from the parents, or other parent, is required, especially if traveling alone with your child. If applying via mail, a self-addressed stamp and recorded delivery envelope should also be included.
Visas can be granted for single and multiple entries. It is good for a three-month stay and is valid for three months from the date of issue. The government is very strict about rules on taking up employment when under a tourist visa. You are not allowed to work in the country when you have only been granted a tourist visa.
The fees for the visa are as follows:
Single entry: £40
One year: £100
Two year: £150
Transit visa: £10
Payment may be made through cash when applying personally, via postal order, or a bank draft. Checks are not accepted. Please do not include cash when mailing your documents. Applications submitted personally take about 4 business days to process, while those received via mail take about 10 days.
