Visa Requirements for UK Passport Holders – Thailand (Kingdom of Thailand)

British passport holders may enter Thailand without visas for stays of up to 30 days if arriving by air. Those arriving at overland crossings are only allowed visa-free entry valid for stays of up to 15 days. However, they must ensure that their passports’ validity exceeds the date of entry by 6 months.

Any British citizen traveling to Thailand with the intention of staying longer or to work must obtain valid visas in advance of arrival.

In general, foreigners who are overstaying their visa expose themselves to the risk of a fine of 500 Baht per day up to a maximum of a 20,000 Baht, detention, deportation at their own expense and being blacklisted from re-entering Thailand. Extensions of stay should only be applied for at immigration offices. Visa shops, travel agents or other private firms offering visa extension services are likely to be illegal.

This information is subject to change at any time. British travelers have the responsibility of confirming visa and entry requirements to Thailand in advance of planned travel.
