An individual who is described as a British Citizen or British Subject with Right of Abode in the United Kingdom will not be required to obtain a visa prior to traveling to France. However, other passport holders will need to confirm the visa requirements with the nearest French Diplomatic mission.
In general, visa admissibility would depend on the following factors:
- Applicant must have in a possession a valid and recognized passport/travel document.
- Applicant must be a resident in the UK. ‘C-visit visa’ holders or bearers of a British visa that is valid for 6 months or less cannot apply.
- France must be the applicant’s only or main destination; he or she must spend more time in France than any other Schengen countries within the same trip, or
- France is the country of first entry into the Schengen area if the applicant plans to remain the same time-span in all countries within the same trip.
