An entry visa may be required to foreign visitors prior to arrival in Grenada. Any individual who wishes to travel to Grenada should check first with the nearest Grenada Embassy or Consulate if citizens from the country of their origin are required to obtain a visa before being allowed entry into Grenada.
US citizens are allowed to travel to Grenada without the need for an entry visa and are permitted to stay in the country for up to three months. The government of Grenada does not require US citizens to bring their passport with them but the US government now requires all American citizens to have their US passport or other official travel documents with them when they travel back into the United States. Ever since this has been implemented by the US government, Immigration officials in Grenada have also been strictly inspecting travel documents of US passport holders entering their territory.
The US government also issued advice for their citizens who are travelling to Grenada to watch out for criminal activities such as muggings and pickpockets. Criminals usually target tourists and steal valuables such as cameras, credit cards, jewelry and passports. Travelers are warned to be very careful when walking at night or travelling by bus or taxi. If they need to use taxis, they should only hire taxis with drivers who are members of the Grenada Taxi Association.
US citizens are also advised to strictly observe and follow Grenada’s laws and customs. Grenada has very heavy penalties and punishment for anyone who is caught in possession or engaged in the trafficking of illegal drugs. Any person can also be punished for speaking foul and obscene remarks towards a local law enforcer. Local law also prohibits people from wearing indecent attires, such as low riding pants and swim wear while walking around the streets. Visitors are also advised not to buy counterfeit and fake merchandise from vendors. This is illegal not only in Grenada, but it is highly prohibited to bring them back when returning to the United States.
Travelers who are departing from Grenada through their airports are required to pay for an airport departure fee. The fee is for US$20.00 for adults while for children between 5 and 12 years old, the fee is US$10.00.
