Visa Requirements for US Passport Holders – Indonesia (Republic of Indonesia)

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN VISA TO ENTER INDONESIA

US passport holders traveling to Indonesia must obtain a visa from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to enter the country. Additionally, there are areas of Indonesia that are restricted to foreign visitors without written permission of Indonesian authorities. These are the regions of Maluku, Poso, Irian Jaya, and Aceh. US passport holders who are wishing to enter these regions must obtain a permit or authorization from the Department of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta. Travelers visiting Aceh region for either work or engaging in activities related to the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency (BRR) must obtain authorization from BRR before applying for the visa.

General Requirements for Tourist Visa

  1. US passport, must have at least 6 months remaining validity for single entry or 12 months remaining validity for multiple entries.
  2. Two (2) fully completed and signed application forms
  3. Two (2) passport-size photographs
  4. Copy of most recent bank statement required
  5. Letter from employer verifying employment or leave of absence
  6. Copy of round trip airline tickets or itinerary
  7. Letter explaining purpose of trip to Indonesia

General Requirements for Social Visit Visa

  1. US passport with at least 6 months remaining validity for single entry or 12 months remaining validity for multiple entries.
  2. Two (2) fully completed and signed application forms
  3. Two (2) passport-size photographs
  4. Copy of round trip airline tickets or itinerary
  5. Photocopy of host’s KTP (Indonesian ID card) and Permit from Department of Foreign Affairs if visiting family in regions of Maluku, Poso, or Irian Jaya.

General Requirements for Business Visa

  1. US passport with at least 6 months remaining validity for single entry or 12 months remaining validity for multiple entries.
  2. Two (2) fully completed and signed application forms
  3. Two (2) passport-size photographs
  4. Copy of round trip airline tickets or itinerary
  5. If a multiple entries visa is required, an invitation from the host organization in Indonesia is required
  6. A business letter of responsibility, typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to the Embassy of Indonesia, Visa Section
