When traveling to Morocco, US citizens are not required to obtain a visa for stays of less than 90 days. Those who wish to visit for more than 90 days must apply for an extension of stay and for this they would need to provide a reason. They should apply for the extension as far in advance of the 90-day limit as possible.
US citizens who intend to reside in Morocco must request for a residence permit from immigration authorities at the central police station of the district of residence. All travelers from the US are highly encouraged to keep a copy of their valid US passports with them at all times so that proof of identity and US citizenship are available should they be questioned by local authorities.
