Visa Requirements for US Passport Holders – Macedonia (Republic of Macedonia)

US citizens are required to present a passport which is valid for at least 3 months beyond the expected date of departure when traveling to Macedonia. No visa is required for stays of up to 90 days within a 6-month period for business or tourism purposes. Additionally, all travelers are required to provide proof of valid health insurance upon arrival in the country. An entry stamp granting permission to remain a maximum of 90 days will be issued at airports.

All foreigners must register with the local police within 24 hours of arrival. Those staying in private accommodations or renting an apartment should register in person at the nearest police station and should be accompanied by the owner or landlord. Foreigners staying at hotels are registered for by the hotel management and will not need to go to the local police station. If a traveler should change addresses while in Macedonia, he or she should inform the police station where they originally registered and re-register at a local police station nearest to the new place of residence.

US travelers who intend to remain in Macedonia for longer than 90 days to work or study must obtain the appropriate entry visa prior to arrival. Adjusting from short-term visa status to long-term after arriving in Macedonia is not allowed.
