Prior to arrival in this country, a visa should be obtained by a citizen of the United States. You can apply for a visa through mail or via personal appearance at the embassy. Below are the requirements that you have to accomplish in order for your request to be processed.
Your passport should of course, be valid at the time of your travel, with validity being six months after the entry date to the country. The application form could be downloaded from the embassy website, and you would need to fill out this form completely and accurately. A recent passport-size photograph should be included. If applying for a business visa, a letter from the sponsoring company should also be included. Proof that you can cover all expenses from your trip should also be enclosed.
Besides the departure tax of USD 20, there is also a corresponding fee per visa that you may be applying for. A tourist visa would cost USD 50 for expedited processing, while USD 40 applies if regular processing days would be followed. For business visa, the rate for normal processing is USD 60 while expedited processing is USD 70. You may also apply for multiple-entry visa. There are terms for 3, 6, and 12 month-stays in the country.
The only modes of payment are cashier’s check and money order. These should be addressed to the Embassy of Eritrea. The fees are non-refundable, and processing would take 5 to 15 business days.
