Visa Requirements for Canadian Passport Holders – Samoa (Independent State of Samoa)

Canadian citizens are not required to secure a visa prior to traveling to Samoa for a 60-day or less visit. A Canadian passport valid for at least six months is also required. An onward or return ticket and evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of your stay are also required. Visitors may extend their stay beyond 60 days by applying at the local Immigration Office. Visitors are required to carry evidence of a yellow fever vaccination if arriving from infected areas.

General Requirements – Tourist Visa:

There are a number of key requirements that each traveler to Samoa must meet before they will be granted entry to the country. Each visitor to Samoa must:

  1. Have a return or onward ticket;
  2. Possess a passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months after the intended date of departure from Samoa;
  3. Have a valid visa or permit for entry into the country to which they will travel from Samoa;
  4. State their accommodation arrangements, be they holiday accommodation such as a hotel or resort or with family or friends (specifically the village and family name);
  5. Have documented evidence of sufficient funds for self-support (typically a copy of a bank statement);
  6. Have no record or deportation from other countries;
  7. Have no health problems that would pose a risk to Samoa;
  8. Have no history of criminal charges resulting in a minimum of one year of sentencing; and
  9. Not be on any alert or warning lists.

General Requirements – Student Visa:

  1. A letter from the educational institution in Samoa confirming your enrolment;
  2. Evidence of sufficient funds for self-support;
  3. A letter confirming the details of any awards or scholarships you are studying under;
  4. Evidence of accommodation arrangements if you are a self-supporting student;
  5. A single completed Temporary Resident Application Form for yourself and any dependents; and
  6. A passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months after the intended period of stay in Samoa for each applicant; and
  7. Funds to cover the processing cost for yourself and any dependents.

Please note:

If the purpose of your residence in Samoa will involve you attending classroom and/or food preparation environments, make sure you also have:

  • A completed Medical Report Form; and
  • A completed Radiology Report Form.

Please note:

If you are intending to reside in Samoa for one year or more, make sure you also have:

  • Completed Medical Report Forms for yourself and any dependents 16 years of age or older;
  • Completed Radiology Report Forms for yourself and any dependents 16 years of age or older; and
  • Police reports for each applicant 18 years of age or older.

Fees:

Applications for the Temporary Resident Permit for Study cost (in WST):

  • $300 for the principal applicant; and
  • $150 for each dependent.

General Requirements – Employment Visa:

  1. A completed and signed Employer Sponsorship Form (MPMC101);
  2. Originals or certified copies of all supporting documentation required for the application;
  3. A single completed Temporary Resident Application Form for yourself and any dependents;
  4. A passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months after the intended period of stay in Samoa for yourself and any dependents; and
  5. Funds to cover the processing cost for yourself and any dependents.

  • $1200 for the principal applicant; and $300 for each dependent.
