Visa Requirements for US Passport Holders – Finland (Republic of Finland)

American passport holders traveling to Finland do not need a visa for business or for personal travel. Travelers visiting the Schengen area should not exceed 90 days in a 6 month period. American passport holders will need to have remaining validity for three months beyond intended stay and proof of sufficient funds and a return airline ticket.

Visa Requirements for Non-U.S. Citizens:

  • Two (2) fully completed and signed visa application forms
  • Two (2) passport size photos
  • Submit your passport – valid at least 3 months beyond stay
  • A notarized copy of Resident Alien Card (Green Card) or valid visa to the U.S
  • An invitation letter from your host or business partner. If you cannot get an invitation letter, you must have the name and address of your host, or information of your hotel reservation
  • Copy of airline tickets or itinerary
  • Proof Travel/Health/Accident insurance coverage of at least USD 25,000, valid in Finland.

The US Embassy in Helsinki is currently not able to assist private US citizens in obtaining necessary visas for neighboring countries; this includes Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union.
