Germany is a party to the Schengen Agreement. This is why US passport holders do not need a visa when they travel to Germany for business or for personal travel. However, visitors’ stay in the Schengen area should not exceed 90 days in a 6 month period. American citizens must present a US passport with three months remaining validity beyond intended stay, proof of sufficient funds, and a return airline ticket. Your entry into Germany begins the 90 day limit for the entire Schengen area.
If you are traveling through or transiting Germany en route to other countries, make sure you know all of the entry and exit requirements for your final destination. Please note that not having the right documentation might lead to denial from boarding to your connecting flight.
