Visa Requirements for Philippine Passport Holders – Sri Lanka (Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka)

Philippine passport holders traveling to Sri Lanka may enter the country without a visa for stays of up to 30 days. Philippine passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of the traveler’s expected exit from Sri Lanka. Philippine visitors must also be in possession of an onward or return ticket and proof of adequate funds.

Effective December 1, 2006, the Sri Lankan Department of Immigration and Emigration no longer allows extensions of stay to travelers who are issued 30-day visas on arrival at the port of entry. For longer stays, tourist visas for up to 90 days can be obtained at a Sri Lankan government office abroad prior to travel. Philippine passport holders who are planning to visit for longer than 30 days, or for other purposes than tourism, regardless of the length of their planned stay in Sri Lanka, must obtain a visa before their arrival in the country.

Visitors entering into Sri Lankan waters, at any point, require earlier permission.

Proof of yellow fever immunization is required for those arriving from infected areas.

General Requirements – for Visit Visa / Tourist Visa – up to 30 days / over 30 days up to 90 days:

  1. Completed and signed Visa Application Form – IM32 (Downloadable in PDF or DOC – to be laser printed on A4 or Legal size paper)
  2. Two (2) recent 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm size colour photographs
  3. An Original air ticket for round trip
  4. Prescribed visa fee
  5. Valid Philippine passport


  • Filipino nationals can enter Sri Lanka as legitimate tourist, without prior visas and remain only 30 days.
  • Upon arrival, visas will be granted only for those found to be genuine tourists at the exclusive discretion of the authorities at the port of entry.
  • Philippine passport holders should possess return air tickets, sufficient foreign exchange to cover the period of stay and any other requirements stipulated by the immigration authorities.
  • The Sri Lankan diplomatic mission in Manila, Philippines is granting 30 days tourist visas and Filipinos can secure their visas prior to their departure.

For Business Visa:

  1. Completed and Signed Visa Application Form – IM 32 (Downloadable in PDF or DOC – to be laser printed on A4 or Legal size paper)
  2. Two (2) recent 3.5cm x 4.5cm size color photographs
  3. A Letter of Invitation
  4. A Certificate of Employment
  5. Travelers flight itinerary for the confirmed trip / trips
  6. Prescribed visa fee
  7. Valid Philippine passport


  • Prior visa endorsement is needed for Nationals of any Country if they are visiting Sri Lanka for business purposes.
  • Philippine passport holders conducting business are classified as a person conducting trade and commercial transactions, foreign investment, business partnership, as well as those attending conferences, consultancy work, religious work etc.
  • Business visas are initially granted for 30 days with single entry facility.
  • Under special circumstances, Business visas are granted for maximum of 90 days with multiple entry facility.
  • Multiple entry visas will be considered on a case by case basis and the approval will be granted after careful screening of the bona-fide of the applicant.

Visa Processing Fees:

Visa processing fees are to be paid in cash at the Embassy of Sri Lanka. The following are the prescribed visa fees for Filipinos:

  • 1 month: Php1,600.00
  • 2 months: Php3,200.00
  • 3 months: Php4,800.00
