British nationals are included in the list of foreign nationals who do not need to get visas when traveling to the Republic of Moldova. The Moldovan authorities allow UK citizens to stay up to 90 days without visas. Foreign nationals traveling to Moldova are advised to check their visas to ensure that these are valid for the duration of their trip. Overstaying foreigners will be subjected to penalties including deportation. Those who will be staying for more than 90 days should secure a residence permit. Residence, work, immigration permits can be issued for up to five years.
Visitors coming to Moldova are automatically registered with the local authorities. Those coming in via Transnistria need to register at the Ministry of Information, Technologies and Communication, located at Chisinau at 49 M. Kogalniceanu Str. or the local passport office within 3 days of arrival. In order to register, visitors must present a letter of request for registration stating the reason for the visit, duration of stay and place where they are staying. Failure to register can result in fines or difficulties when departing the country.
UK citizen-travelers must present a valid passport to be able to enter Moldova. Their UK passports should have at least 6 months remaining validity and one blank page.
