British nationals traveling to Panama need not obtain visas prior to departure. They must however, purchase tourist cards upon arrival at the Tocumen International Airport in Panama. The tourist card costs US $30 and is valid for 30 days but can be extended up to 90 days. Those who wish to stay for more than 30 days must apply or request for an extension before the 30-day period expires. Granting of extension are at the discretion of the Immigration authorities.
Those who will be staying for more than 90 days must request for a change of immigration status/visa within 90 days. Again, approval will depend on the decision of the Immigration authorities.
If traveling through the Panama Canal, travelers need not purchase a tourist card or obtain a visa if not disembarking.
British travelers must be able to present on arrival, a valid passport, with 6 months remaining validity, onward/return ticket, credit card or US $500. If traveler will be coming from an infected area, proof of yellow fever vaccination is also required.
