Netherlands is part of the Schengen Visa scheme. As such, US citizens intending to travel to Netherlands for tourism or business are not required to secure a visa. American nationals are permitted to enter Netherlands or any of the Schengen group of countries for a maximum of 90 days’ stay within a six months period.
Although no visa is required you must be able to present the following documents upon arrival in Netherland:
- Passport with at least 3 months remaining validity beyond the intended travel
- Return/Onward Airline Ticket
- Proof of sufficient funds (at least € 34 per day)
- Provide nature or objective of the travel
You must also report to the local Alien Police within 3 days of your arrival. But if you will only be staying in Netherlands for 3 days or less, you do not need to report to the local Alien Police.
In case you will be staying for more than 90 days, you must apply for a residence permit at the Alien Police.
