US citizens are not required to secure a visa prior to traveling to Samoa for less than 60 days of stay. A US passport will show if your status is a U.S. citizen or a non-citizen national. US citizens need a valid passport and an onward/return ticket to travel to Samoa.

General Requirements – Tourist Visa:
There are a number of key requirements that each traveler to Samoa must meet before they will be granted entry to the country. Each visitor to Samoa must:
- Have a return or onward ticket;
- Possess a passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months after the intended date of departure from Samoa;
- Have a valid visa or permit for entry into the country to which they will travel from Samoa;
- State their accommodation arrangements, be they holiday accommodations such as a hotel or resort or with family or friends (specifically the village and family name);
- Have documented evidence of sufficient funds for self-support (typically a copy of a bank statement);
- Have no record or deportation from other countries;
- Have no health problems that would pose a risk to Samoa;
- Have no history of criminal charges resulting in a minimum of one year of sentencing; and
- Not be on any alert or warning lists.
General Requirements – Student Visa:
- A letter from the educational institution in Samoa confirming your enrolment;
- Evidence of sufficient funds for self-support;
- A letter confirming the details of any awards or scholarships you are studying under;
- Evidence of accommodation arrangements if you are a self-supporting student;
- A single completed Temporary Resident Application Form for yourself and any dependents; and
- A passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months after the intended period of stay in Samoa for each applicant; and
- Funds to cover the processing cost for yourself and any dependents.
Please note:
If the purpose of your residence in Samoa will involve you attending classroom and/or food preparation environments, make sure you also have:
- A completed Medical Report Form; and
- A completed Radiology Report Form.
Please note:
If you are intending to reside in Samoa for one year or more, make sure you also have:
- Completed Medical Report Forms for yourself and any dependents 16 years of age or older;
- Completed Radiology Report Forms for yourself and any dependents 16 years of age or older; and
- Police reports for each applicant 18 years of age or older.
Fees:
Applications for the Temporary Resident Permit for Study cost (in WST):
- $300 for the principal applicant; and
- $150 for each dependent.
General Requirements – Employment Visa:
- A completed and signed Employer Sponsorship Form (MPMC101);
- Originals or certified copies of all supporting documentation required for the application;
- A single completed Temporary Resident Application Form for yourself and any dependents;
- A passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months after the intended period of stay in Samoa for yourself and any dependents; and
- Funds to cover the processing cost for yourself and any dependents.
